VectorVGA Tempest

VectorVGA Tempest allows you to replace your broken Wells-Gardner 6100 or Amplifone vector monitor with a newer, reliable raster monitor. It is compatible with:

  • Atari Tempest
  • Atari Space Duel
  • Atari Gravitar
  • Atari Black Widow
  • Atari Quantum

Replace your vector monitor with any SVGA monitor you like—a 19” arcade monitor, LCD monitor, computer projector, plasma display, that free CRT monitor on Craigslist - anything that accepts an 800 x 600 SVGA signal! You’ll never have to fix that vector monitor again. Installation doesn’t require any modifications to the cabinet or wiring harness.

A Brief History of Vectors
Vector arcade games were ahead of their time with sharp, super-bright, high-resolution graphics. The most popular vector games like Atari Asteroids, Tempest, and Star Wars stole the hearts and quarters of millions of people. About 50 vector titles were released between 1977 and 1983. But all good things must come to an end, and unfortunately the vector monitors were often to blame. Many vector monitor designs were unreliable and production of new units has long since ceased, so the availability of vector monitors has become the limiting factor in owning vector arcade games.

A New X-Y Monitor
Many people are reluctant to own vector arcade games because of the unreliability and scarcity of vector monitors. VectorVGA Tempest changes this by introducing a brand-new, high-quality option for vector arcade games. It is the first and only solution for converting the analog vector signal to SVGA. VectorVGA Tempest is designed and built in the USA by Imaging Systems Technology, Inc, an electronics consulting company with decades of experience designing plasma displays. Their expertise with custom electronic design and digital video processing made VectorVGA possible.
